Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms...

There are many reasons to come and worship.  We worship to offer up our praise and adoration to God.  We worship to gather together with other Christians.  We worship to give of ourselves, our time, and our possessions.  But probably the most important reason to worship is to equip ourselves against all the dark forces that we face.  The world sends powerful messages that seek to steer you away from true things.  The world tells you that you do not measure up, that you are not good enough or pretty enough, that you're not the right shape or size. The world assigns you worth on the basis of how much you produce, or by the size of your retirement fund.  The world would have you believe that the way to heal your hurts is to seek revenge for those who have offended you, and to hold onto the anger and hatred that comes when you have been wounded.

In the midst of these familiar messages, we gather to worship to remind ourselves that such messages are nothing more than the lies of the evil one.  We worship to equip ourselves with the truth that the all powerful God unconditionally loves you and that there is a righteousness that can't be earned or bought or measured by any worldly standards.  We come to worship to hear the peace bringing Good News, that God values you so much that he sends his son to die for you, to save you.  We come to worship to to know this faith, and to encounter the Spirit of God's love.  When we leave church, we wear these things like armor, to defend ourselves against the world and it's wish to win you over with it's lies.

On any give weekend there are three opportunities to worship (see the "Weekend Schedule" at the top right corner of this page).  Come and put on the whole armor of God.
