Foundtion Offers up a Challenge Grant for Haitian Relief PDF Print E-mail

The Saint Olaf Foundation has approved a grant for victims of the earthquake in Haiti.  The grant will send $5,000 to Lutheran World Relief for immediate assistance.  In addition to this, another $5,000 is being offered as a challenge to potential donors.  Every dollar received will be matched by a dollar from the SOF (up to $5,000).  For more information, call the church at 515-576-2103.

Study Committee Formed PDF Print E-mail

The church council has created an ad hoc committee to study the effects of the decision of the 2009 Churchwide Assembly to allow homosexuals in committed relationships to serve as pastors.  The committee is comprised of Bill Enke, Sandy Fletcher, Johnna Friesth, Mary Kuhlman, and Scott Otto.  All those on the committee are past or present officers of the church council.  The committee will have a six month term.

The mission of the committee is to study the pros and cons of all possible options available to St. Olaf as a reaction to this decision.  The final report will be submitted to the church council.

This process will include holding meetings, speakers, and forums for the congregation to learn and discuss this issue.  Watch the Visitor, the website, and your weekly bulletin for information as those meetings are scheduled.

Anyone wishing to give input or express ideas can do so directly to any committee member.
